Stuck in a wind hole (Monday 7 July)| Hard life, being Belgian (Monday 30 June) This little snippet was received from Simon this morning: Stoker (on bow, trimming) to Frankie (at helm): "You're off the wind" Frankie to Jane (doing her watchleader thing and standing behind him): "What does that mean?" Jane to Frankie: "It means you're not on it" And no wonder the poor boy's confused by English...! | ![]() |
Today's 1500 GMT radio schedule and subsequent updating of the Clipper web site with the latest 'scores on the doors' was anxiously awaited by all the Jersey supporters. Most of us had a feeling that Jersey would have edged into the lead during the day. Indeed they had, albeit only by 0.8 miles. But it was enough cause for celebration and so Thursday evening saw Robin, Helen, Kerry, Fred and Marcus gather at St. Helier Yacht Club for a few beers and a chance to listen to Kerry's stories from leg 4.
Congratulations to Pierre Horsfall CBE (Wednesday 18 June)
Jerseyman Martin Cavey is flying out to Mauritius tomorrow to join the crew of Jersey Clipper for the next leg to Cape Town and onward to Salvador (Brazil). It is going to be interesting to see how the crew manages to cope with a fussy eater on board - Martin, who is being sponsored to take part in the race by his employers UBS refuses to eat any vegetables other than potatoes!
