Thank you for your interest in Jersey Clipper. If you would like to contact one of the crew, there are various options:

  1. If you wish to send emails to the boat for a crewmember to read while they are at sea, you will need to register for an account with Stratos Global, who are the company that provides the satellite communications to the boat. Instructions on using this service are as follows:

    Account setup
Go to https://secure.stratos.ca/_regforms2002/stratosmail/new.cfm and fill in the form. Under "account PIN" choose any 4 digits. Under "register your shore-side e-mail addresses" list e.g. yourname@hotmail.com and any other addresses that you want to be able to email from. Do not use your work email address as your mail server will append a lengthy disclaimer to the end of the message, which will make the message much longer and hence expensive! At the bottom of the signup form, change ‘maximum message size’ to 5,000. Finish by pushing submit button.

After a few hours you’ll get an email from Stratos to say you’re set up.

    To send an email
In the ‘to’ line type jerseyclipper@stratosmobile.net

In the subject line type FAO: Marcus Ferbrache

In the body of the message itself, be brief and abbreviate wherever possible, a bit like writing a text message. Every 2 characters (including spaces) costs 1p. This pays for the cost of sending the message via satellite. Only send text – no attachments – and send as plain text, not HTML (check hotmail settings) Note that email will be on plain view to other crewmembers so do not write anything private!

For further details click here to visit the Clipper Ventures web site. Please note that your credit card will be charged $0.25 per 32 characters of text in emails sent by this method.
  2. Alternatively, if your message is not urgent you can leave a message in the Jersey Clipper guestbook for free. Crew members cannot access the Internet from onboard, so they will not see your message until they arrive at their next port of call.
  3. If you know the hotmail address of the crew member you wish to contact, send them an email to that address and they will hopefully read their emails from an Internet cafe when they next arrive in port.
  4. You might like to send a letter, postcard, parcel etc. by airmail to one of the stopover ports. Click here for details.

Website feedback: If you wish to contact the designer of this web site, please email webmaster@jerseyclipper.com but remember that we cannot forward your messages to the crew onboard.

Media: If you are from the media and wish to contact someone from Jersey Clipper for interview, please contact Clipper Ventures' PR manager Loretta Spridgeon.
